GAME ASSIGNMENTS FOR VARSITY AND FRESHMAN TEAM PARENTS

FRESHMAN PARENTS WORKING FRIDAY NIGHTS:

Persons that are selling programs -- will report between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m.

: as they are only required to sell programs until 2:00 minutes remaining in the Second Quarter
Persons in the Spirit Stand or Glow Stand -- will report by 6:00 p.m.
: as they will be working the entire game.
Assignments will be given on a "first come - first received" basis (Programs, Spirit Stand, Glow Stand).  Parents may call Dan Resciniti @ (570) 814-5803 to request a certain position.  Only one parent is required to perform one game of Varsity service.  Furthermore, if you are unable to work your assigned game, please make every effort to make a "switch" with another parent on your own.  There will be plenty of time throughout the season to negotiate with another parent.  Thank you very much, and we look forward to an excellent season.  Go Warriors!!!

Varsity Jacket Reimbursement

The Wyoming Area Football Parent's Association (WAFPA) in the recent past, has reimbursed parents of senior varsity members for the cost of their varsity jackets. This is done once the player's high school football eligibility has expired. This practice is not mandated in the WAFPA by-laws, but the current WAFPA board can vote to do so based on the financial status of the organization. The 2010 WAFPA board has voted to offer this reimbursement to the 2010 seniors, with the following criteria:

  • - The player has completed his/her senior season on the football roster. Players who were injured in their senior year and could not play are still considered members of the team and are eligible for reimbursement. Senior players who quit the team before the end of the season are not eligibe for reimbursement.
  • - For 2010, those seniors who finished the season and were members of the varsity for three full seasons, will be reimbursed at a 100 percent rate. Those seniors who were on the the team for two complete years, (junior-senior, or sophomore-senior) will be reimbursed at a 67 percent rate, while those seniors who were only on the team for their senior year, will be reimbursed at a 33 percent rate. If a player played a full sophomore year, quit the team in his or her junior year, and came back and completed their senior year, then they would be eligible at the two year rate. If a player quit the team in the middle of the year, there is no reimbursement for that year.

Future Jacket Policy

The practice of providing jacket reimbursements to senior parents is based on the premise that parents have FULLY participated in WAFPA fundraisers and activities and have supported the organization. For example, WAFPA expects ALL parents to purchase at least five horses for the annual "Night at the Races". Last year, we had 50 percent of the parents in WAFPA purchase horses. In this and other WAFPA activities, we have a group of parents who are doing their fair share to support the financial well being of WAFPA--while we have others who are not doing their fair share, yet reaping the benefits of those that do.

Given this situation, the 2010 WAFPA Board has drafted a new policy for jacket reimbursement. The 2011 Board will consider and vote on the following changes to the current policy:

  • For those eligible, jacket reimbursement will not exceed $200.
  • Only those seniors who have completed three FULL years on the team will be reimbursed. In other words, there will be no partial reimbursement for seniors who were not on the team in their sophomore or junior years.
  • Parents MUST participate in Night at the Races at the minimum level requested. If WAFPA requests that a minimum of five horses be sold, then parents who expect a jacket reimbursements MUST sell 5 horses. If parents are requested to sell 5 horses in the player's sophomore, junior, and senior year and none are sold, then there will be a $150 reimbursement deduction.
  • WAFPA will be tracking parent participation in all activites, such as food donations and working at the Spirit Stand. These activities may be considered in the final determination of reimbursement level.
